Who’s responsible
Zayna is the data controller for the personal information collected through this site. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Zayna; “you” means the person whose information we hold.
What we collect
When you create an account or place an order, we collect your name, email address, delivery address, and payment confirmation details. When you browse, we collect limited technical information — device type, broad location, and pages visited — to keep the site fast and honest.
Makers who open an atelier also provide business details, payout information, and the photographs and stories that appear on their pages.
Why we use it
To take and fulfil your orders, keep your account safe, send you the occasional letter if you’ve asked for it, improve the marketplace, and meet our legal obligations as a UK business — nothing more.
Who we share it with
Only the people who help us run Zayna: our payment processor, our shipping carriers, and the maker preparing your order (so they can write your name on the parcel). We do not sell your data, ever.
Cookies & analytics
We use a small set of cookies to remember your cart and sign-in. We use privacy-aware analytics to understand which pages people read — never to build advertising profiles. You can clear cookies any time from your browser settings.
How long we keep it
Account and order records are kept for as long as you have an account with us, plus the period required by UK tax and consumer law (typically six years). Marketing preferences are kept until you change them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or have it deleted. Write to us and we’ll respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) at any time.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Payment details are handled by our PCI-compliant processor and never touch our servers. Access inside Zayna is limited to the few people who need it to do their work.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be flagged by email if you have an account with us.
